Star Doily Dishcloth

I've seen this done before, but never tried it myself. Please note this pattern *is* my own, and that I designed it myself, despite any resemblances it may have to another. I literally sat down and worked through it on my own.

Star Doily Dishcloth:

I used an H crochet hook and Sugar 'n Cream yarn.

Chain 5; slip st to form ring.

Rnd 1: Ch 3, dc 2 in ring. Ch 1 (dc 3 in ring, ch 1) 4 times, slip st in beginning ch.

Rnd 3: Ch 3, dc in same sp. Dc in next 3 dc, 2 dc in next dc. Ch 1. (Skp ch 1 sp, 2 dc in next dc, dc in next 3 dc, 2 dc in next dc) 4 times. Slip st in beginning ch.

t ch 5 sp, ch 5, sc in next ch 3 sp, ch 3) 4 times. Slip st in beginning ch.

Rnd 8: Slip st in next dc. Ch 6, sc in next ch 3 sp. (ch 5, sc in next sp) around. Slip st in the third beginning ch.

Rnd 9: Slip st in next sp. Ch 1, sc in sp. Form picot. Sc in same sp. 1 sc in next sc. Form picot. *2 sc in next sp, form picot. 1 sc in same sp. Sc in next sc, form picot. Repeat from * around. Fasten off.

NOTE: To form a picot, chain 3 and then slip stitch into the top of the last stitch you did.

Tweed Stitch Dishcloths

I have a feeling there's going to be a lot of dishcloths on here. They're quick and easy to make (generally), and there are so many patterns out there. These, however, are of my own design.

They're incredibly easy. Mine turned out a little small - I chained 26. I'd suggest chaining 30, 36, or even 40. The only rule is you need to chain an even number.

If you already know the tweed stitch, this is pretty much that, just changing colors. For those of you who don't know:

DISHCLOTH A: Three-color Tweed (Left)

Row 1: With color A - Skp first ch, sc in next ch. (Ch 1, skp 1 ch, sc in next ch) to end of row - draw color B through last two loops of last sc.

Row 2: Connect color B, but leave A still connected. With B: Ch 1, skp first sc, sc in next ch 1 sp. (ch 1, skip next sc, sc in next ch 1 sp) to the end of the row. In last sc, insert hook, draw up a loop, leaving two loops on hook.

Row 3: Draw C through last two loops on hook, leave A and B still connected.  Ch 1. Sc in first sc and in ch 1 sp. (ch 1, skp next sc sp, sc in next ch 1 sp) to the end of the row. Sc in last sc.

Rows 4 - (however many desired): Repeat rows 2 and 3. Change color every row by drawing next color through last two loops on hook.

Fasten off all ends when you've reached the desired length.

DISHCLOTH B: Three-color ZigZag (Right)

This one is exactly the same as the last one, save you change colors every other row. So two rows in each color. To carry the colors, leave the last two loops on the row as before, and draw the new color through to connect it. The easiest way to carry the colors is to just pick up the string where you left off six rows before, but that also leaves a line on the sides. If you're fine with that and intend to put a border on, then no problem.

The other way is complicated, and I'm not sure how to explain it. If any of you would like to see, then tell me and I'll take step-by-step pictures for you. :)

NOTE: The brown border around the Three Color ZigZag dishcloth is not included in the pattern. I pretty much winged it. If you would like to add a border, by all means, do so. (: Be creative.

Star Dishcloths

NOTE: This pattern is based off of a blanket pattern originally released for free by Bernat. You can find the blanket pattern here. I did, however, convert it into a dishcloth.

I've made the blanket version before and liked the result. However, I was in need of dishcloths, and, after consideration, got out my cotton yarn and began to follow the pattern, but stopping when it became the size I preferred.

I used Sugar 'n Cream cotton yarn with a size H crochet hook. Each dishcloth took me forty-five minutes to an hour to complete.
Bad photos, sorry; they were taken almost a year ago with a phone

Hello!

When my older brother sees me crocheting or knitting, he says I'm 'making knots again.' Thus, Needlework Knots. I'm a younger artist who draws more than anything else, but two of my favorite pastimes are knitting and crocheting. I also embroider on occasion and would like to learn tatting.

This blog will primarily be to share my projects in pictures and hopefully patterns that I create. I have a few going at the moment, and just finished this evening a pair of slippers which I will post about at a later time, once I have pictures. As I live in West Africa, I don't have easy access to yarn and other supplies, so I apologize in advance for the lack of color and possibly posts in the future.

Cheers!
